Keeping it Gurlie :)

Ok, so I got lucky and I was able to snag these clear acrylic paint pails on a buy through a good friend of mine, you can visit her site here. I thought how cute they would be all decorated up, with goodies stuffed inside. They come in three different sizes for all sorts of fun gift giving or snazzy storage. Pictured below is the gallon size. I recieved one that was damaged in shipment so I though instead of neglecting it because it wasnt in pristine condition I would decorate it for my studio as a prototype. Hope you enjoy :)

Super suprised today!

I woke up to an AWARD! How cool is that? This is my first blogger award and I am honored and in total shock!!!!!!! Thank you so much Carrie Sampsel! You can visit Carrie's Scrapyard to see her super cute blog and the other blogs she chose to pass this award on to.

When you recieve this award you are to pay it forward and follow rhese rules:

1) thank the person who gave this award to me and link it back to their blog

2) share 8 things about myself

3) pass this award to 8 other individuals that I have recently discovered

4) leave a comment so that they can pass along the recognition!

So lets see 8 things about me........
.
1) This year I will be celebrating 21 yrs of being married to my soul mate Mark.

2) I have to 2 boys; Ian & Devin, who keep me laughing everyday. Oh and a crazy Cat named Baxter.

3) I am originally from upstate NY, the rest of my family still resides there.

4) I love, love to travel, see new things and experience new cultures. Being married to an Airmen; everyday   is an adventure!

5) I have always ejoyed some sort of craft throughout my life, but scrapbooking, making cards, and altering items with paper seems to be what I enjoy the most.

6) I joined Stampin Up! in 2007 while living overseas in the UK as a hobby demo and at the moment we have chosen to stay overseas but now we reside in Germany.

7) I love earth tones, and I am not a fan of pastels. That could be due to being the mom to two boys? But my favorite Stampin Up! colors are Old Olive, Early Expresso, Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, and Cajun Craze.

8) I started this blog just for fun, and as a means to keep my sanity as I am currently unemployed. The job market here in Germany is very competative due to the language barrier and I am limited to only being able to look for work on the US military base.

Eight Fabulious Blogs (in no particular order) that I am passing this award on to:

Make sure you stop by and check these talented ladies out!

I just wanted to say Thanks again to Carrie, and I also wanted to express how blessed I feel to be surrounded by such crafty women! You ladies are a true inspiration!

Last Minute Valentine Add-on

Well the card really wasn't an add-on because it was made for my husband, but I sure made it at the last minute! But the gable box was definitely a fast one, I think I managed to squeeze it in about 20 min. before he walked in from work. I had extra Valentine candy and nothing to put it in! Its all about presentation right? Well I certainly could have embellished it better but I was short on time. I think it turned out okay for a quickie ;) Hope you enjoy!

Got Scraps? 2nd Ed.

Well I couldn't help myself, I wanted to see what other fun shapes I could come up with. Of course the colors have to be pink, black, and white since thats my color scheme at Studio B (except the purple wall that was there when we moved in :( .   I also wanted to add some life to the skylight without hanging up a curtain so here it is. Sorry about the picture quality, I think I may need a new camera......Hope you enjoy!

Couture Snowflake

Ok, I think I need to change the name of my  blog to "plays with paper" LOL! I love the way that this snowflake came out, although its kind of large. But....... I have a skylight above my craft table that lets in tons of light, but it needed some "cutsying" up and I didn't want to hang a curtain so I decided to make my own decorations to hang from a tension rod. I will show you the finished product when its all done. Hope you enjoy :)

Got scraps?

Then you can make one of these cute little Valentine heart decorations. This is a great easy project for kids or those that are young at "heart". I thought it would be a cute window decoration for Valentines day so I whipped up a couple of these in a few of my favorite colors since they will be recycled after valentines day in my studio for some fun decor. And whats even better; I'm gonna share how I made them. Super Easy!

Okay, So here it goes; this is my first tutorial and I hope I write clear instructions, but please contact me if you need further explanation :)

To begin you will need 7 strips of paper cut 1 inch wide. I cut two strips of each color and one shorter strip  of paper at 12, 10, 8, and 5 inches.

Stack strips in the order that is pictured above. So essentially you will stack short, med, and then long. Add the 5 inch strip and then repeat, sandwich them together with the shortest piece sticking out as shown in the photo to the right. Staple all sheets together where they meet with the 5 inch strip.

Next hold the 5 inch strip and begin pulling the shortest strip down on each side to line up with the 5 inch strip, repeat for the other strips pulling each side down and lining them up. When All pieces are even with the 5 inch strip staple in place. (sorry that I wasn't able to take a picture of this step)

There are so many color combinations that you can do, or you can make the strips thinner or thicker.
For smaller hearts just adjust the length of the strips.

Here is one that I made. I suspended it using some fishing line, which is so thin and clear that you cant even see it! Love it!

My baby is turning 16!!

Ugh, which means Im O-L-D! lol... I always have a hard time making cards for guys and this one for my oldest son isn't any different, which is why I began this quest early. I lucked out and was able to finish in about 20 minutes which is a record for me, ha! I gave it some real thought and decided that more than likely we would probably give him some sort of gift card. So I thought why not start with a gift card holder, and making that inspired me to make his Birthday card. I got the idea for the gift card holder here at Dawn's website. Hope you like it!

Another Valentine for the boyz

Here is a little goody I made for my boys for valentines day. Of course I tried to keep it simple since they are guys but I couldn't help glittering the letters...(I love things that sparkle).  But I used Martha Stewart's onyx extra fine glitter so its not as girlie as I could have made it by using red! The sweet treat cups from Stampin Up are so easy and fun to use. I will definitely make more cards using these cute little cups.

Valentine's (the beginning at least)

Below are a few things I completed today for my boys. I like to make them things for the different holidays and Valentines Day is no exception. I would have loved to have been able to add some glitter and all the girlie things that makes me smile but I have to guy it down or my boys will give me a hard time. I still think they turned out ok......
